Project / Design Engineer – Metal Products – Permanent Position – Based Catterick – Salary – Negotiable Reporting chain: You are to report directly to the Metal Products - Project & Engineering Manager in relation to your normal duties.
Project and Design management of Metal Products contracts, relating to pressure vessels, quick opening end closures and pipeline pigging equipment detectors, up to and in excess of £1,000,000 in value.
This includes the following duties:
- Technical Review of Enquiry Specifications / Documents and production of material take offs for costing purposes.
- Preparation of contract costing and offer/bid documents.
- Preparation of Design Data for customer approval, including pressure calculations, GA and detail drawings.
- Preparation of Inspection, Fabrication and Test Procedures for customer approval.
- Preparation and issue of material lists and specifications for procurement.
Completion and issue of design data/drawings, fabrication, inspection and test procedures to Works Departments for manufacture.
- Liaison with Sub-Suppliers, Customers representatives and Inspection Agencies during manufacture.
- Progress Reporting.
- Preparation of final manufacturing data dossiers.
In all of the above you must employ the procedures and practices currently specified for use within the Company.
Profile of Candidate Essentials
- Must have a minimum of five years design and project engineering experience in a pressure vessel/fabrication or piping related role and be able to engineer/manage contracts up to a value of £1 million from enquiry stage to close out.
- Candidates should be degree or at a minimum HNC/D qualified and conversant with international pressure vessel and piping design codes, ASME, PD5500 etc.
- Good Communication skills.
- Ability to plan and monitor contracts in terms of time and cost.
- Computer skills in Word/Excel for the production of progress and cost reports, fabrication, test and inspection plans and procedures.
- Ability to liaison with Customers (UK and Overseas) and chair technical clarification, inspection and internal and external progress meetings.
Desirable
- 2D/ 3D Drafting skills using Soildworks or AutoCad.
