MARINE MANAGER – TEESSIDE – SALARY £50 – 55,000 PER ANNUM        

Our client is an independent group of companies providing geotechnical, geophysical, survey and metocean services around the world.  Since its inception in 2004, the group has expanded rapidly and has international offices in the UK, Belgium, Nigeria, Qatar and the UAE

 

THE ROLE

 

To support company’s operational vessel fleet (charter or otherwise) and ensure the ships and craft form a safe working environment for company employees.

 

To be the principle point of contact on all Marine Issues including the management of mobilisations / de-mobilisations for and on behalf of respective projects.

 

Principle Responsibilities / Objectives:

·         Provide a safe working vessel environment. The aim being no accidents and no incidents.

·         Principal point of contact for all Marine Issues including vessel owner liaison and notifications when required assist in contractual discussions.

·         Subcontract Management for the company’s owned vessel fleet.

·         Management of the company’s owned small vessel fleet & vessel Superintendent (based in Brugge).

·         Manage Mobilisation activities and ensure that all mobilisations / demobilisations are undertaken in an effective, on schedule and cost efficient manner. This includes near shore geotechnical drilling barges.

·         Ensure that a competent emergency response plan is in place for every project, asset deployment

Principle Duties:

 

·         Maintain a close liaison with Ship Owners on a day to day basis as the primary point of Contact.

·         Source third party vessels as required for project activities & assist in preparation of Charter parties using frame work templates / liaison with Contracts Manager.

·         For all vessels on charter, monitor that Marine certification is maintained

·         Liaise with ship-owners on all audits including Common Marine Inspections and verify that action points raised within these audits are closed out. Maintain a document system to record these audits and distribute internally as required (this should also include any other Marine Assurance requirements as may be required by Projects).

·         Establish and maintain generic and where appropriate specific operational procedures for company’s vessels & craft including but not limited to task plans, lifting plans and TRA’s to ensure maximum operational efficiency and safety.

·         Recommend, implement and maintain the companys provided IT systems, communications systems, leisure services (where required).

·         Administer an efficient onshore emergency response system. Conduct exercises and regular reviews and update of emergency contact lists

·         Assist in the audit process for, (internal and 3rd party, onshore and offshore) that all legislative and  Company QHSE requirements are complied with and that any actions resulting from audits are followed   through and implemented.

·         Compile and maintain information on Marine Legislation changes and present to the Vessel & Resource Manager (and others as appropriate) where this will effect the company’s operations. Propose, where required, changes to company procedures / standards to meet these changes..

·         Provide offshore operational support and advice as required within the Company.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

Qualified Marine Engineer – Class 1 (Chief Engineer) –experience in ship management role would be an advantage.
